Dwarf Blue Indigo is a tough, native, and perennial shrub-like wildflower that is perfect for native landscaping. This plant features purple, lupine-like flowers atop a blue-green compact mound that stays a 1.5-2' height and spread. Related to Baptisia australis, this one is a smaller plant with larger flowers. Attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. Easily grown in average, dry to medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade but is best in full sun. Drought tolerant once established
It is also a host plant for the Wild Indigo Duskywing. In Texas this plant is native to the Blackland Prairies but is quite rare and is ranked N3 vulnerable. It is important to naturalize and spread this plant
Great for beds and borders, prairies or meadows, cottage gardens, and native plant gardens. Great as specimen plant or in groups. Perfect for smaller gardens!
