Green Milkweed (Asclepias viridis) grows best in Central and Southeastern United States, and is a primary food source for adult Monarchs and their caterpillars, especially in Texas. Green Milkweed is also a highly attractive host plant for Soldier and Queen Butterfly caterpillars and adults, and serves as a nectar plant for many other butterflies and pollinators, too.
Requires a sunny, well-drained spot and prefers soil with a neutral pH or slightly alkaline
Drought tolerant and low maintenance!
Best in naturalized areas, meadow, prairie or drought-tolerant plantings; also consider green antelopehorn for butterfly, pollinator gardens, or in a border if there isn't too much competition from other plants
Germination: Plant in Fall or cold stratify for 30 days in moist paper towel or moist sand in refrigerator
