Central Texas Ecotype
Inland Sea Oats is a striking, clump-forming ornamental grass native to the US and prized for its bamboo-like foliage and drooping oat-like seed heads, looks similar to fish on a fishing pole. It's a perfect low-maintenance grass for shady areas where nothing will grow, around ponds, streams, large shady trees, or woodland gardens. Great for erosion control on shady slopes or sandy soils. Tends to spread under favorable conditions, creating an attractive sea of grass that is easily managed.
The pale green spikelets turn golden-brown by fall. The seed stalks are beautiful all year long and are commonly used in native flower arrangements or dried arrangements

Inland Sea Oats is a larval host for the Pepper & Salt skipper butterfly, Bells roadside skipper butterfly and the Bronzed roadside skipper butterfly. The seeds are eaten by birds and mammals.
