Pale Yucca (Yucca pallida) is an eye-catching silver pale-blue yucca endemic to north-central Texas. In Spring it shoots up a tall inflorescence of dozens of bell-shaped cream-colored flowers that can be seen from afar. This trunkless yucca is a good choice for locations where a low-growing form is required. Its flexible, pale blue-green leaves measure 1 inch wide by 1 foot long with finely serrated, light yellow to white margins. Like most yuccas, Yucca pallida requires good drainage. It may be grown in the shade garden for textural interest, but may not bloom as well as those in more sun. Yucca pallida exhibits excellent hardiness

Germination: Seeds may need cold-stratification to break dormancy, either planted in Fall or early Spring, or kept in the refrigerator over winter. Soaking the seeds for 24 hrs helps in some situations. Plant seeds in a gritty, well-draining soil mix and keep moist but never wet to prevent rot.
