Showy Beardtongue is a very striking, drought tolerant perennial wildflower native to Texas and the Great Plains of Central US. The flower colors can range widely, from deep purple, to pink, and pure white.
It is loved by butterflies, bumblebees, hummingbirds, and moths! Thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers well-draining soils. Tolerates sandy, rocky, and low-fertility soils where other garden plants struggle.
This long-lived perennial grows as a tidy clump and does not spread aggressively by rhizomes. It performs best when given enough space, as more vigorous neighboring plants can crowd it out over time.
